Telstar
The Telstar. This is the board I designed for myself. Through the R+D process, I have refined this board to perfection. I shaped and tested many versions of this board, until it led me to this. This board is very buoyant, at 3″ thick, but has super pinched rails. The deck an S-deck, (scooped in the nose, and tapered in the tail), making it easy to swing around, and flexy in the tail. With a lower wide point, this board’s rotation point is just behind center. The tapered, rounded squash tail allows turning from further up on the board, preventing loss of speed through turns. The bottom of the board has a VERY slight concave, and begins to hull 3 inches from the rail, making this board fast, but extremely easy in rail to rail transition. It has the benefit of a hull, but without the plow and ultra looseness at high speeds. This board lifts with speed to a maximum plane of an 18 inch wide board.
The Telstar is meant for intermediate to advanced surfers, and works well in playful, open faced waves, point breaks and rock reefs. If you know this board, it will work in beach breaks, as well.
